Membership at Harvest

We welcome all who are true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ and who have been born again by the Word of God, through receiving Him as personal Savior to consider membership at Harvest.

Why Membership
‘As the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ…’ 1 Cor 12:12

The New Testament uses the word ‘member’ metaphorically saying that we are members of a local body the way hands and feet are part of the human body. We believe that this is an expression of being a member of a local body and not just membership in the universal body of Christ. One reason for this is that later in the same chapter (v24,25) Paul speaks of the members having ‘the same care for one another’. This care for one another finds its fullest expression in the local body.

Commitments
Then based on this principle of caring for one another, membership in a local church implies several commitments:

  • The church has a responsibility to faithfully minister the Word, since this is the primary means of growth and encouragement.
  • The body had a responsibility to love and encourage one another.
  • The individual has a responsibility to be involved and use their gifts in the ministry and in ministering to the body.
Requirements for Membership
  • Baptism by full immersion in water, after believing in Christ for salvation
  • Substantial agreement with the Statement of Faith and with the Church Covenant
  • Meeting with the pastor and deacons to hear your testimony of faith in Christ, agreement with our Statement of Faith, and to answer any questions or concerns

Please see Article V: Statement of Faith, Article VI: Church Covenant and Harvest's Constitution for further details on membership.

Associate Membership
College students and other temporary residents of the community may upon request be accepted as associate members while retaining regular membership in their home churches, and while temporarily residing in the community. Associate members shall have the same rights and responsibilities as members, except that they shall be ineligible to be officers in the church (deacons, treasurer, trustees, etc.)

If you have questions or would like to discuss membership please talk to our pastor or one of our deacons. This is our Membership Application.
